BOTOX And Dysport: Similar Methods, Similar Results

The important thing to keep in mind about both BOTOX and Dysport is that they’re more similar than they are different. At the highest level, both are proven injectables with a track record of safely rejuvenating aged, worn skin. Dr. Angelchik only offers effective, safe procedures and treatments. However, they’re also similar in how they work. Both BOTOX and Dysport use a form of botulinum toxin to block communications between nerves and the muscles in your treatment area. This prevents the muscles from contracting, and when the muscles don’t contract, wrinkles don’t form. Over time, existing wrinkles will fade. The end result of injections of either drug is a smoother, younger-looking face.

Your Priorities

It’s not really possible to say that one of these injectables is “better” than the other; both work well and present miminal risk of serious complications. Still, there are some differences between the two injectables, and Phoenix-area patients should be aware of how BOTOX and Dysport differ before undergoing either treatment:

  • Dysport injections are a little less expensive, as the product is slightly more diluted than BOTOX
  • Dysport can act a little quicker than BOTOX
  • Studies indicate that Dysport has slightly more potential to “spread” than BOTOX, which means that an inexperienced injecting physician might allow the material to spread to nearby areas and cause unfortunate side effects
  • There’s conflicting evidence on the question of which lasts longer
  • Finally, Dysport might prove useful for patients who have grown resistant to BOTOX after multiple treatments

Whatever you choose, you can count on board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Angelchik to use his decades of experience to provide you with a safe, pleasant cosmetic enhancement experience.
