What is Latisse®?

Latisse (called bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) is a prescription product that became the result of side effects of certain glaucoma medicines. It has since been used to boost the natural growth of eyelashes through regular use at night. Latisse requires use over a few months before results become apparent, but it can be a great, long-term alternative to extensions or eyelash lifts. Latisse is physician-prescribed, however, so we recommend you consult with Dr. Angelchik to discuss your options and treatment.

How should I use Latisse®?

Latisse is best used as a part of your nightly routine. After you’ve completed your skincare regimen, apply the Latisse solution using a new, sterile applicator (you’ll receive a supply of them with the prescription). The solution should be placed only on the upper eyelashes using only one pass of the applicator, which should then be thrown away to prevent the growth of unwanted bacteria. Once you go to sleep, the product can transfer to the lower lashes. It’s important not to touch, rub, or otherwise disturb the product so that is can be effective.

When will I see results?

Most patients begin to see results with Latisse after three or four months of regular, nightly use. However, Latisse can only produce results as long as you are regularly using it, so ceasing use can cause your eyelashes to return to their normal state. Some patients experience minor complications and pigmentation, so you should be sure to speak with Dr. Angelchik about what to expect.
