ASPS Welcomes Captique™ to the Injectable Wrinkle Fighters Market

With the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval of Captique™ injectable filler on Dec. 2, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) welcomes the addition of this new wrinkle-fighting injectable to the growing number of fillers currently available for minimally invasive facial rejuvenation. According to the manufacturer, Captique’s results, characteristics, and profile are similar to Restylane®, the soft tissue filler which received FDA approval late last year.

“As more Americans seek minimally invasive procedures to erase wrinkles and folds, they want to see new products come on to the market that will help them attain their individual aesthetic goals - it’s all about choices,” said ASPS Immediate Past President Rod Rohrich, MD. “We welcome Captique as another safe and effective choice for facial reshaping and rejuvenation for our patients.”

Last year, more than 3.6 million Americans had minimally invasive procedures with injectables including Botox®®, Hylaform®, Restylane, collagen, and fat according to the ASPS.

Captique, an Inamed Aesthetics product, is the company’s first non-animal based, hyaluronic acid soft tissue filler. Similar to Restylane, Captique adds volume to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth. According to the manufacturer, Captique is a clear, colorless gel which produces immediate results and lasts up to one year.
Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body, making allergic reactions rare. The body naturally absorbs Captique over time.
