Sculptra® is an injectable filler used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and nasolabial folds. Three to six treatment sessions will yield effective results that can last for up to two years. Phoenix plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Angelchik often recommends Sculptra as an alternative to other dermal fillers such as:
Sculptra is made from a synthetic Poly-L-lactic acid material. A natural form of this material is commonly produced by your muscles when you exercise. The Poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra will gradually boost the thickness of your skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It is biocompatible and will eventually be absorbed by your body.
The Sculptra Procedure
Dr. Angelchik will perform your Sculptra procedure using topical numbing cream or local anesthesia to minimize discomfort at the injection site. The entire procedure can be completed within a half hour, so you can undergo treatment on your lunch break.
First, Dr. Angelchik will determine the appropriate injection points for your treatment. Next, he will inject the filler underneath your skin. You may need to apply an ice pack to reduce swelling and massage the region to properly distribute the filler throughout the treatment area.
You can resume all regular activity immediately. However, you should avoid prolonged sun xposure for several days. You may require several treatments before you achieve maximum results.
