What is a facelift?
The facelift procedure lifts and tightens the tissue in your midface area using different incisions and techniques. What will the surgery be like?
A facelift is a customizable procedure which can use different kinds of incisions and techniques. Depending on the kind of results you expect, you could either get a mini or full facelift. You could undergo the traditional full facelift when you require a substantial amount of correction, that is tightening and lifting of the skin and underlying tissue. The incision during this facelift starts at the hairline, goes around the ears and into the nape of your neck allowing the most access to the underlying facial muscles. This technique involving the gentle lifting and tightening of the facial muscles during the facelift, also known as SMAS or the superficial musculoaponeurotic system.
Those in their early 40s who are experiencing mild aging signs may opt for the mini facelift which only targets the lower facial area and offers a small improvement. Accordingly, it uses the short scar incision which goes around the ear and allows for reasonable improvement to your cheeks and jawline. Dr. Angelchik can combine an additional incision under the chin during your mini facelift to give you a neck lift or for chin liposuction.
Your facelift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and Dr. Angelchik will make the predetermined incisions to lift the skin. The underlying fat can then be manipulated to get better contours and the muscles lifted and tightened to a more youthful position. The skin is then re-draped over the tightened muscles and any excess skin is removed before closing your incisions.
What can you expect during recovery?
Even though everybody experiences a different recovery, most people return to their jobs within 2 to 3 weeks. You may see significant bruising during this time. It is important to protect yourself from sun exposure and if you must step out, ensure you use sun protection. Any associated pain and swelling can be alleviated with medication but you must avoid any rigorous activities for about 2 weeks. There are several aftercare instructions that you must follow to ensure your recovery is smooth and Dr. Angelchik will discuss these with you in detail. Fountain Hills is a town in the Maricopa County of Arizona. The town is known for its impressive fountain which was once the tallest in the world. Fountain Hills was developed by C.V. Wood, president of McCulloch Oil and it was named after the massive man-made a fountain in the center of the town. To the southwest and northwest regions of the town are the McDowell Mountains which are a chain of extinct volcanic mountains. A tributary of the Salt River, the Verde River runs east of Fountain Hills. Several washes inside the town run into the Verde River as the Ashbrook, Balboa, Colony, and Legend washes. Fountain Hills has the world’s fourth tallest fountain that was built in 1970 by Robert P. McCulloch. The fountain sprays water for around 15 minutes every hour between 9 am to 9 pm. It held the record of being the tallest fountain in the world for a decade. With all three of its pumps under ideal conditions, it reaches a height of 170 m. Every year, the water in the fountain is dyed green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The Fountain Hills Theater is an award-winning performing arts venue that is in its 28th season and offers 16 productions every year to local communities in addition to offering arts education to the youth all year round.
