Matrix IR™ Fractional
Rejuvenate and clear the skin using the best in combination technology
This combination of elōs™ technology enables penetration of heat to the deeper connective tissues under the targeted skin. This stimulates collagen to produce a firming effect. The treatment is great for mild to moderate wrinkles, where more firming is needed in deeper levels of the dermis. Combined with Fotofacial RF® and Refirme™ treatments, Matrix IR completes the ultimate skin rejuvenation called the Triniti™.

Matrix IR uses both laser energy and bi-polar radiofrequency (RF) to penetrate the deep collagen matrix under the skin. This layer is normally responsible for supporting the skin, retaining elasticity, and maintaining volume. Over time, your body can become less efficient at producing collagen and elastin, resulting in wrinkles and folds. When these forms of energy reach the collagen matrix, they stimulate the body to produce more collagen by shrinking the existing collagen, leading to increased production and volume over time. Additionally, this system accomplishes controlled wounding of the deep layers of the skin, resulting in a production of new cells and collagen to repair and rejuvenate the skin.
Patients that benefit most from this treatment are those with signs of aging that don’t yet require surgical techniques. Unlike certain laser systems, the Matrix IR system can be used on all skin tones. For best results, many patients undergo a series of treatments with additional skincare or injectable treatments to maintain their results. It’s important to discuss any medical conditions or medications during your consultation, as well as any previous injectable treatments or at-home use of retinoids. During a consultation with Dr. Angelchik, you’ll discuss your goals for this procedure and determine whether the Matrix IR system is your best option.
This laser system works twofold to jumpstart your skin’s natural rejuvenating systems. This occurs by both increasing collagen production through radiofrequency, and through controlled wounding of the deep layers of the skin to produce additional collagen as part of your skin’s natural healing functions. This is accomplished through activating fibroblasts, which produce collagen. These wounds only occur on targeted parts of the skin, or a fractional amount, as the name indicates. The Matrix IR Fractional system comes with three pulse settings, meaning it can be easily customized to your goals and skin. When the Matrix IR Fractional system is used in addition to Fotofacial RF® and Refirme™ treatments, you can achieve significant skin rejuvenation that addresses a wide array of concerns.
Most patients experience no discomfort from this treatment, as the system comes equipped with an intense cooling applicator to protect the surface of the skin against heating and damage. For this reason, no local anesthetic is required. It also produces no effects in the surface of the skin, meaning there is little risk of scabbing or marking. After your protective eye shields are in place, the handpiece is applied to the skin at the treatment areas. This treatment session can usually be completed in under an hour, depending on your treatment areas and goals. After treatment, you can immediately return to your regular schedule, since this treatment requires no downtime.
Most patients undergo this treatment as a package of up to five treatment sessions spaced about one to two months apart with additional maintenance treatments once or twice per year. You can expect some mild swelling and redness at the treatment site after each session, but these usually subside quickly. One of the best ways to maintain your results is through effective at-home skincare, and our skincare experts can recommend the best in our selection of medical-grade products. Additionally, we can recommend the best in professional skincare treatments to help maintain your results between treatment sessions, if needed. This treatment cannot stop the process of aging, however, so surgical techniques may be necessary to achieve and maintain your results after a certain point. Dr. Angelchik can give you the best idea of what treatments and procedures can help you achieve your results during a consultation.
