The VI Peel is a specialized chemical peel developed by VI Aesthetics. Unlike many in-house chemical peels, this treatment is gentle, painless, and can be safe and effective on most skin types, tones, and areas. This treatment is also physician-administered under the supervision of our board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Angelchik.
Patients that benefit most from the VI Peel are those looking for an improvement in skin concerns like acne, sun damage, pigmentation, and fine wrinkles. It’s important that Dr. Angelchik assesses your skin’s condition and type to determine whether you might experience any complications. Concerns can be things like a history of extensive scarring or darker skin tone that is prone to hyperpigmentation.
The VI Peel uses an effective formula made of a blend of active ingredients like Trichloroacetic acid (TCA), tretinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and Vitamin C to rejuvenate the skin and gently remove layers of damaged or dead skin cells. This process causes the skin to rejuvenate and begin producing new, healthy cells to replace the old, resulting in a layer of clear, young skin.
Although the VI Peel can generate some discomfort while the formula is in place, most patients find the treatment to be tolerable. If needed, Dr. Angelchik can supply a topical anesthetic to reduce any discomfort. Once your skin is cleansed, the chemical solution is applied and left to sit where it can remove the surface cells of the skin. Then, another step is applied to reach the deeper layers of the skin. The solution is left on the skin and should be washed off at home after a few hours. You’ll be able to return to your regular activities immediately after your VI Peel, which takes around 30 minutes.
Your skin will begin to lightly peel for around one week after your treatment and can look similar to a sunburn. However, once this process is complete, you’ll see noticeable results in your skin’s tone, feel, and appearance. The VI Peel works best in a series of 3 to 6 treatments that are spaced one month apart, although you can opt for additional maintenance treatments after you’ve completed your initial course. We can also recommend our best physician-grade products to supplement your at-home care and boost your results. For additional treatment of concerns like pigmentation or deeper wrinkles, we can recommend laser treatments as part of your package.
