West Valley Surgeon Offers Advanced Tummy Tuck Procedure
GLENDALE, ARIZ. (February 4, 2009)—Is there a better surgical option than a tummy tuck for a flatter tummy? Weight-proportionate men and women seeking a more defined waistline may be candidates for a safer and more effective option.
Glendale plastic and reconstructive surgeon Paul Angelchik, MD, uses principles of both the traditional tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and liposuction in the technique known as “lipo-abdominoplasty”.
Lipo-abdominoplasty was originally developed in Brazil by Dr. Osvaldo Saldanha, and has become an increasingly popular technique for contouring the abdomen and surrounding areas.
With this technique, Dr. Angelchik removes fat while tightening the abdominal muscles and removing excess skin and stretch marks. It allows patients to retain more of the feeling in their abdominal area and have an easier recovery.
“A conventional tummy tuck required us to be extremely conservative with liposuction to prevent damage to the abdominal skin’s blood supply,” said Dr. Angelchik. “Using this procedure, we can preserve about 70 percent of abdominal skin blood flow rather than the 20 percent that remained with the traditional procedure.”
The improved blood flow allows surgeons to be more aggressive with liposuction. This helps the surgeon control the shape of the abdomen better. The technique combines fat and skin removal with muscle tightening. It is ideal for height- and weight-proportional individuals who want to lose weight and tighten the tummy area.
Currently, Dr. Angelchik is the only West Valley plastic surgeon performing lipo-abdominoplasty. Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, he has been practicing since 1994. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. His office, Paul Angelchik, MD Plastic Surgery, is located at 18275 N. 59th Avenue, Bldg. L, Glendale, Ariz. 85308.
