Gain A More Youthful Look with Facelift Surgery
For many patients, non-surgical treatments such as laser resurfacing, injectable fillers, and IPL treatments, as well as better skin care products, have all made an impact. Yet, at a certain point for many patients, surgery becomes the logical alternative to achieve a smoother jaw line, neckline, and cheek area. The facelift is one of the best and most effective ways to remove years from the facial profile for the long-term.

A facelift, sometimes called rhytidectomy, is a plastic surgery procedure that aims to lift and tighten the skin and tissues of the midface. This is accomplished through various techniques and incisions, and can commonly be performed at the same time as other facial procedures such as a brow lift. The facelift is one of the most popular facial cosmetic surgeries because it produces long-term results and can effectively craft a younger, more rejuvenated version of yourself.
The best candidate is someone who has begun to show signs of facial aging, but whose skin still retains a certain amount of elasticity. There is no magic age that a facelift patient must reach because everyone ages at different rates. However, you should also be in general good health and stop smoking at least a few months in advance of your procedure. It’s important to discuss your concerns and expectations with Dr. Angelchik, as these topics are an important facet of the initial consultation. It’s also important to determine whether your expectations are achievable through a facelift procedure. Dr. Angelchik wants patients in the Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Glendale, AZ area to understand what the chosen procedure can do for them, and what it can’t do.
All I can say is amazing. Dr. Anglelchik performed a lower area facelift and torso lipo. I wanted to look like myself only younger/fresher. Read More >
There are different types of facelift that vary in extensiveness and incision type, since not all patients will need the same techniques from their facelift. The two most common facelifts are:
Traditional Facelift
This type of facelift works for most patients who need substantial lift and tightening of the skin and underlying tissues. It includes an incision that begins at the hairline of the temples and wraps around the ears and into the nape of the neck. This incision allows for the best access to the underlying muscles, which are gently tightened and lifted. This technique is sometimes called SMAS, or superficial nusculo-aponeurotic system.
Mini Facelift
This option is becoming increasingly popular with younger patients (generally in their 40s) because it offers a small improvement without the extensive incisions of the traditional methods. It often includes a short scar incision around the ear that allows for slight improvement of the jawline and cheeks. It can often be combined with an additional incision under the chin to perform a necklift or chin liposuction.

Recovery time often depends on the individual who is undergoing surgery. Most people can return to work within 2–3 weeks. It is important to understand that bruising may remain for up to three weeks and can be substantial. Exposure to the sun should be very limited and when you go outdoors, so be sure and use sun protection factor. Vigorous activities should be avoided for two weeks. You can expect some pain and swelling, but these can be managed with prescribed medications. Dr. Angelchik will give you explicit care steps to follow during your initial recovery period, which includes sleeping with your head elevated, among other things.
The facelift is one of the best ways to restore and rejuvenate an aging profile when non-surgical treatments are no longer effective.
