What is Renuvion?

Renuvion® is the latest technology in non-surgical skin rejuvenation in the Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Glendale, AZ area. It uses safe and effective J-Plasma® technology to a generate cold helium plasma beam, coupled with radiofrequency energy. When passed over the skin (external application), the handpiece can effectively rejuvenate and resurface the skin in a method similar to a CO2 or Erbium YAG laser. This can effectively reduce concerns like loose skin wrinkles, acne scarring, and sun damage on the face. When the handpiece is placed underneath the skin (internal application) and performed in conjunction with liposuction or pre-tunneling, the fibrous septal network connecting the skin to the underlying tissue is tightened by the Renuvion beam, boosting collagen production and causing skin shrinkage. This makes it an excellent option for a minimally-invasive neck lift, facelift, or body tightening procedure where the skin is lifted and tightened without long incisions.

What are My Options for Renuvion?

Renuvion is an ideal technology because it can be used on many different areas of the body that experience laxity or textural concerns. This provides another alternative to conventional surgery, which can come with longer downtime and greater risks.

Face

For patients that are showing the beginning signs of aging in the face, Renuvion can be an excellent option in rejuvenating the profile without the need for a lengthy recovery. Renuvion can also be paired with other non-surgical options like injectables, professional skin treatments, and physician-grade skincare products for additional results.

Neck

One often-neglected area when it comes to anti-aging steps is the neck. Many people experience sagging, wrinkles, and aging signs in the neck even when the face is otherwise youthful and rejuvenated. A neck lift can come with some hassle, so Renuvion is a great alternative to address areas that don’t seem to have many treatment options.

Body

There are many different options for body rejuvenation, but it can seem like they either require surgery or, when treated with non-invasive modalities, may not produce intended results. Renuvion can tighten and lift the skin with a minimally-invasive technique, meaning you can return to your active lifestyle sooner. Renuvion can be performed in areas that commonly experience sagging and laxity, like the stomach, thighs, back, or arms.

What Happens During Renuvion?

Renuvion may be performed with either local anesthetic techniques or general anesthesia, depending on the application and any other associated procedures, so that you’re comfortable throughout the procedure. Once you’re ready, the wand is passed both over the skin to resurface the face, and under the skin using tiny incisions to tighten all areas treated. The J-Plasma technology causes the skin to tighten and rejuvenate over the course of the next weeks and months, taking as much as a decade off the profile.

How Can I Maintain My Results?

For external application, the recovery is similar to laser resurfacing treatment. You can expect some redness, swelling, and peeling after external treatment. The facial skin will need one or two weeks after treatment to heal, depending on your skin and extent of treatment. Dr. Angelchik will provide aftercare instructions to follow during this time so that your skin remains healthy and irritant-free. You will also be followed closely at our office. Most patients experience little pain during this time. Pain medication, antibiotics, and other aftercare products are prescribed for your care. For internal application treatments, recovery is basically the same as after a liposuction procedure, which is usually done at the same time.

You will see early improvement, but final results can take up to 6-9 months to manifest in full, and we can recommend the best non-surgical treatments to maintain your results for the long-term. For facial care, this may include injectable treatments, medical-grade skincare treatments, and a home care program. With internal treatments, results will also be final at around 6-9 months as the fat compartment and skin shrinks to your new, youthful shape.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Renuvion skin resurfacing?

Renuvion is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure that uses Helium Ion plasmatechnology coupled with radiofrequency energy. It can effectively rejuvenate the skin and tighten laxity without the need for surgical downtime.

How long does it take to see results from Renuvion?

After treatment, it can take about three weeks before your results begin to emerge. Your results will improve over time, for about nine months, and can be maintained with the right skincare and non-surgical treatment package.

What is Renuvion used for?

Renuvion can effectively be used for a variety of concerns like loose skin, wrinkles, scars, and sun damage. It can also remove stubborn fat and boost collagen production, shrinking the skin and improving the contours and many different areas of the face and body. Renuvion can be used internally for skin tightening, and externally for resurfacing, a similar technique to a laser resurfacing procedure.

How long does plasma internal skin tightening last?

With the right treatment process, you can enjoy long-term results with Renuvion skin tightening. Although it can’t stop the process of aging, it can turn back the clock and give you a refreshed, youthful look.

Does internal plasma skin tightening really work?

Plasma skin tightening is one of the newest and most effective methods for tightening the skin. Among its many benefits is that it doesn’t require incisions like a traditional surgical procedure.

Is Renuvion better than Botox?

Renuvion can produce longer-term and more transformative results than Botox because it treats the underlying volume loss in the skin. Botox, on the other hand, simply relaxes muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. Some patients benefit from a treatment package of both. They each address different concerns.

How effective is Renuvion?

Although it can sound like science fiction, plasma skin tightening is one of the most effective and powerful ways to tighten the skin without long incisions, especially when combined with radiofrequency energy. Your plastic surgeon can give you the best idea of whether non-surgical skin tightening is best for you and your goals versus a surgical procedure.

Why is it called plasma?

Plasma is a state of matter consisting of ionized gas. Renuvion uses plasma energy combined with radiofrequency to generate heat and tighten the deep layers of the skin.

What skin concerns will Renuvion address?

J plasma can be used to address a variety of different skin concerns caused by aging and collagen loss. This can include things like wrinkles, sun damage, laxity, and acne scars.

Can I combine my Renuvion treatments with surgical procedures?

Renuvion can be an effective way to boost the results of your surgical procedure or to maintain your look over time from procedures like a facelift or neck lift. Your plastic surgeon can give you the best idea of how Renuvion can fit your cosmetic goals.

What happens during treatment?

Renuvion can be performed with a local anesthetic, depending on your unique treatment process. Once you’re comfortable, a tiny incision is created and a handpiece is inserted under the deep layers of the skin. Simultaneously, a wand treats the skin from the outside. Once the area is treated, the incisions are closed, and you can return home.

Am I a good candidate for treatment?

Renuvion is a great option for patients with aging signs who are looking to rejuvenate their look but aren’t yet ready for surgery or don’t want a more invasive procedure. You should be in overall good health and have realistic expectations about what non-surgical skin tightening treatments can achieve as well.

Is Renuvion expensive?

The cost of your treatment can vary depending on how big the area is being treated, and how many areas are to be treated. Renuvion can be used on the face and neck as well as the body. Renuvion is FDA-approved for internal skin tightening of the jawline and neck.

How long does Renuvion take?

Your Renuvion treatment can take between 45 to 75 minutes to complete.

How painful is Renuvion?

The Renuvion procedure is performed under local and tumescent anesthesia with oral medication supplementation and in minimally painful during or immediately after the procedure. The area may be swollen for several days after the treatment. Bruising is usually mild. Discomfort is usually mild and often can be managed with over-the-counter pain medications.

Can you have Renuvion without liposuction?

Although Renuvion is traditionally performed with liposuction, it can be performed alone.

Can Renuvion replace a tummy tuck?

Since Renuvion is a less invasive non-surgical skin tightening option, it can be used as a tummy tuck alternative in apporpriately selected patients.

What does Renuvion feel like?

You will be fully numb from a local anesthetic or under sedation or general anesthesia and should have minimal or no discomfort during the procedure.

Can you do Renuvion more than once?

Renuvion may be repeated; however, most patients do not require a second treatment to get the improvement they are seeking. Renuvion is a powerful minimally invasive tool for internal skin tightening and resurfacing.

What is the difference between laser resurfacing and Renuvion?

Renuvion can be used for internal skin tightening or external skin resurfacing. A Renuvion resurfacing typically provides more skin tightening than a laser procedure. Both treatments require expert technique and careful aftercare.

Should I massage after Renuvion?

Internal skin tightening with Renuvion will produce some mild soreness. After several weeks massage may be instituted if recommended by your surgeon. Massaging treatment areas during the early inflammatory period after a procedure usually is not of benefit.

Does Renuvion help with cellulite?

Renuvion can provide effective skin tightening on the inner and outer thighs. In many cases, it diminishes the appearance of cellulite.
