Phoenix residents who are considering visiting a plastic surgeon to undergo liposuction should know they have options when it comes to their procedure. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Angelchik has years of experience with the liposuction procedure and helps you make the important decisions determining how pleasant your liposuction experience will be.
One of the most important decisions you make with our plastic surgeon is which type of liposuction procedure to undergo. Dr. Angelchik walks you through your options, but as a general rule you can expect to have three choices.
Your first option is traditional liposuction. In the traditional procedure, our plastic surgeon will make a series of small, inconspicuous incisions, then insert a small tube called a “cannula” to remove the stubborn deposits of fat you want to eliminate.
Your second choice is power-assisted liposuction. This is similar to the traditional procedure described above, but a small hand piece attached to the cannula contains a motor. This motor rapidly moves the tube back and forth, more efficiently breaking up fat. Our plastic surgeon might recommend power-assisted liposuction for a large volume case.
The final option is ultrasonic liposuction. Here, Dr. Angelchik uses high-frequency sound energy to break up fat deposits before inserting the cannula. This procedure is often used on the upper abdomen, love handles and for gynecomastia, or male breast reduction. Then fat is suctioned away with the cannula.
