short scar facelift, also called a minimal access cranial suspension (MACS) lift, is a facial plastic surgery procedure that effectively reduces the signs of aging in the mid-face region, cheeks, and jowls. The procedure will restore a more youthful appearance to your face that is very natural. There will be no pulled or pinched look in association with a short scar facelift.

The short scar facelift offers several benefits, including:

  • Minimal scarring
  • The vector of lifting is more natural and repositions the facial soft tissues more accurately
  • Shorter recovery period than with a traditional facelift
  • More natural looking results

The procedure provides excellent results which are comparable to what you will experience with a traditional facelift. However, your skin will not be separated from the underlying muscle and tissue in the short scar facelift procedure. As a result, it is a much less extensive procedure requiring a smaller incision and shorter time on the operating table. Furthermore, since your skin and muscle are not separated, you will experience significantly less bruising and recovery time than with a traditional facelift.

Am I a Candidate for a Short Scar Facelift?

Ideal candidates for a short scar facelift are looking to correct the signs of aging in the mid-facial region. The procedure is generally performed on people in their 40s and 50s, although Dr. Angelchik has achieved excellent results on older patients as well.

Dr. Angelchik may recommend a brow lift or blepharoplasty for enhanced results. If you have more neck sagging, the short scar facelift can be combined with a formal neck lift to achieve a better outcome.

The Short Scar Facelift Procedure

Phoenix plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Angelchik will perform your short scar facelift under local anesthesia. He will make a small incision in front of your ear in order to access the underlying muscle and tissue in the facial region. Dr. Angelchik will reposition and tighten this tissue and muscle to eliminate the sagging in your skin. The entire procedure will be completed in 2 ½ to 3 ½ hours.

You can generally return home the day of your procedure. Recovery time will take between one and three weeks. Dr. Angelchik will provide you with specific instructions which must be carefully followed during the recovery period to ensure proper healing.

Your results will look very natural, giving you a refreshed and rejuvenated facial appearance. Once the scars heal, they will be undetectable.
